My Toddler this Week: Fast Learner

This week, Mason has been communicating more and more. Along with signing more  he has developed his own language.

He speaks when his watching the TV, or when attempting to tell me or Dada that he wants something. late this week, he master the art of talking t the phone. He literally just picks up the house phone and talks to Dada when he calls us in the afternoon.

Mason is so adorable! I heart my son so much, well who wouldn't? he is magnificent in so many ways. His also eating better this month. Thankfully. He’s been eating more and drinking more water which has been great. Of course, however, He still has his moments where the only thing he wants to eat is oatmeal, but we get through it.

Mason suddently is reluctnat to be held or carried. Just today when we went to the market, all he wants is to walk alone. I can't help but notice that once he had his taste of freedom, its hard to hold him back. But I'm so proud of him, he's getting bigger and brighter and I can't help but be thankful that I have a kid like him :)

Pregnancy Week: 23rd Week - Our little womb-explorer

Hooray! I'm on my 23rd week of pregnancy!

Last week Wednesday 14th of December, we went to the Hospital for the FA scan. I get to see Maddox once again and to know if he is doing very well inside my tummy, the doctor said that he is physically, structure-wise oh so fine. So, I got nothing to worry about, specially that our sweet baby Maddox is sort of looking like an over-sized red prune right now as more and more skin are showing up each week.

Isn't he the cutest?

My uterus has now stretched to such unholy proportions that it almost extends up past my belly button!
We're smack in the middle of trimester two and I'm in the full swing of baby-growing.

can feel fluttering little kicks, noticing some mild uterine contractions, but my womb-hijacker hasn't yet grown to his full-sized unholy proportions that'll leave me feeling like a pregnant whale with legs so I guess I'm still good right now.

Happy 4 Years to Us!!

Today Nino & I celebrate four years of marital bliss.  Life is good when you're married to your best friend.  Words don't describe how fortunate I feel to have found someone who completes me as well as Nino does.  As cliche as that sounds, it's true.  from day one, being with him has been so easy, so natural, so second nature, so fun, so adventurous, so right.FOUR years ago, this was us:

I love you for your thoughtfulness
Your understanding way
And for the countless little things
You do for me each day
I love you for the hopes and dreams
You've helped to make come true
But most of all I love you,
Just for being you
Happy Wedding Anniversary
Happiness Always

Sometimes that feels like just yesterday, and sometimes it feels like a million years ago. Funny how that works.
It is so weird to me that so much time has passed, and I have a little one year old boy now and another one coming.

definitely looking forward to more years.

My Toddler this Week: Beyond Babbling

Early this morning, before going to work, I said goodbye to my sweet lilttle kid. When saying goodbye, he utters words that only him can understand, so I just replied and said " Meemai is going to work today, ill call you later" then once again he replied. I can't help but melt, my little kid understands and somewhat asks me to stay at home instead :)

Mason loves to babble words and is working hard on being able to tell Us what's going on in his busy brain and most of the time he begins to form recognizable words.

I know it's not an overnight process, and the pace varies significantly from child to child. But one thing is sure, though: He understands far more than he can say.

Holidays: Our Tree is Up

I was a bit late getting our Christmas tree at home up this year. That's because, we (Dada and I) are hesitant since we have an active little kid in the house. We are scared that after a lot of effort it may go to waste because Mason, will just pull the tree down.

But for the spirit of Christmas plus the fact that I am in a festive mood, we still get the tree out of the store room and into our living room.

The effort don't go into waste though, Mason loves every detail of it and tries his best to pull the balls out of the tree. Good thing we manage to put the tree on top of a table.

This is Mason's 2nd Christmas, his first was when he is just a month old, now our little kid enjoys looking at the tree, pointing at it and once again tries his best to pull those sparkly decorations :)

My Toddler this Week: Little Kid

Every week since I found out I was pregnant, I have received an email from BabyCenter updating me on the progress of my little guy. For the first nine months, of course, they were pregnancy updates; since giving birth, the subject line of the emails have included the word “baby.”

I felt more than a little emotional this month when my usual weekly note from BabyCenter appeared in my inbox and included the words, “Your Toddler This Week.”

My baby is a toddler? Really? He is in fact doing some toddling, and at times when I look at Mason from across the room, quietly spinning the wheels on his favorite car, or watching the TV intently, I realize that my little boy pogi is maturing into a… kid.

Mason’s thirst for knowledge at this age is just fascinating to me. He is interested in learning more about everything in his environment, and makes a great effort to say new words - different words every day. Although I can't still figure out most of them I am happy that he is trying his hardest.

It’s funny that as Mason grows, each phase seems to bring with it new and wonderful milestones and experiences. I think I’ll keep calling my toddler a baby, for a while longer, but he’s definitely growing up and I just love who he is becoming.

My Toddler this Week: What a Whiner

One of the biggest child behavior problems is how to stop whining in children. Like fingernails on a chalkboard, whining is one of those sounds that instantly get your attention -- and jangle your nerves.

I think I am starting to have a Whiner.  He always wants to have his way and whines when he is unhappy about something or else he will cry (with tears, mind you) so we end up giving everything to him. Although we do not want this to happen as a cycle, but we can't help ourselves. What to do?!

I stumble upon this website where there are some Smart Strategies to Stop Whining in Children

1. Adjust the way you view whining.
2. Consider what may be triggering this behavior.
3. Call out the whining.
4. Make it clear that whining is not acceptable.
5. Don't let 'em see you sweat.
6. Do not give in.
7. Be consistent.

Here is one video where he is demanding to have milk and is growing impatiently if he doesnt get one right away. LOL. It's cute at first but I dont want him to be like this all the time, so I try imposing time out and consistently and lovingly convey the message to him that whining is not going to be tolerated in our house.

It was one of those toddler-on-the-floor-kicking-&-screaming kind of days... but I still love him to death so for now I can tolerate it.
